There are a number of ways we can support you. For instance, you can call our free Helpline to talk about how we can help, or to arrange a call with one of our expert advisers. Our advice service is a free, impartial and confidential telephone service for older people, their families, friends, carers and health professionals. We also provide a wide range of other services to support people in later life. Our team will give you information and guidance on how to access the support you need.

Advice for family and friends

Find out how you can support an older person facing issues such as ill health or loneliness, and what to do if you’re worried about someone’s safety. We also have tips on how to bring up sensitive subjects such as the need for extra help at home.

Telephone groups

We run Good to Know telephone groups to give social and learning opportunities to people who may not be online or who may struggle to get out and about into their communities. Think of these groups like a cup of tea and a chat at a community centre, but over the phone in the comfort of your living room.

Support for carers

Caring for someone can be demanding, both emotionally and financially. Make sure you know your rights as a carer and check what support and benefits are available to help you and the person you care for.

Bereavement support

Chat to our bereavement experts, specially trained bereavement counsellors to help you deal with the practical matters and cope with bereavement when someone else dies. GriefChat is a completely free service and is available Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm or by email out of these hours.
